About
I grew up holding bits of wood for my father, who created some remarkable wood works in his life. I might have been bored at the time, but it had a lasting impact. He needed a few handsaws, a set-square, and a hammer and nails to make some spectacular furniture.
I admit I can’t do what he did with a handsaw – thank goodness for powertools that cut straight and square.
But I’ve made my own way. I still can’t figure out how to hammer a nail into wood without cracking it. So I’ve had to learn mortice-and-tenon joinery instead.
I work with a range of suppliers, contractors and people who have many of the skills I wish I had, to design and make furniture and objects with a “material-first” credo.
